Position: TEACHING ASSISTANT LEVEL 1

Overview

Hillside is a Special School & College for children and young adults with autism. We have 117 students aged 4 to 18 on roll.

Hillside Specialist School and College, Ribchester Road, Longridge, Preston, Lancashire, PR3 3XB
.

Salary: £25,949 (actual starting salary for term-time hours, paid over 12 months). Working pattern is typically Monday to Friday 9:30–15:30, with potential adjustments up to 30 minutes earlier if needed.

Responsibilities
  • Assist pupils under the supervision of the class team and support the Teacher during the school day.
  • Work within a dedicated class team to support the learning and development of pupils aged 4–18 with special needs.
  • Engage in the school’s training programme and contribute to in-house development opportunities (5 paid training days per academic year).

  • A positive attitude and ability to work within a dedicated class team.
  • Support pupils and assist the Teacher during the school day under the supervision of the class team.
  • Abide by the Code of Conduct.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Level 2 or equivalent qualification in English/Literacy.
  • Level 2 or equivalent qualification in Mathematics/Numeracy.
Desirable Experience
  • Experience of working with or caring for children/young people with special needs.
  • Experience of working with children aged 4–18 years.

  • This position is part-time, term-time only; the salary quoted is for full-time equivalent. If successful, pay is pro-rata.
