Overview

Lostock Hall Community Primary School, Linden Drive, Lostock Hall, Preston, Lancashire, PR5 5AS

We are a large two‑form‑entry primary school rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted, part of the Embrace Teaching School Hub and Axia Learning Alliance. We are seeking two Teaching Assistants for Early Years & KS1.

Responsibilities
  • Support the class teacher in whole‑class settings and deliver intervention sessions to groups of children.
  • Implement learning activities for individuals and groups, including those with SEND.
  • Monitor pupil progress and give feedback to the class teacher.
  • Establish supportive relationships with staff and pupils.
  • Provide one‑to‑one support for children with additional needs.
  • Deliver daily lunchtime supervision, first aid, and playground supervision.
  • Work in a friendly team and commit to professional development.
Hours

31 hours 40 minutes per week, Monday to Friday, 8:30‑3:20 (30 min lunch).

Essential Qualifications
  • Level 2 or equivalent in English/Literacy and Mathematics/Numeracy.
  • NVQ Level 2 or above appropriate to the post (or equivalent).
Desirable Qualifications
  • First‑Aid certificate.
Essential Experience
  • Experience caring for Early Years & Key Stage 1 children.
  • Experience working in a classroom environment.
  • Experience covering the class in the teacher’s absence.
  • Experience supporting children with additional needs.
Desirable Experience
  • Experience with administrative work.
  • Experience managing pupils with challenging behaviour.
  • Experience delivering intervention sessions to groups.
  • Experience with de‑escalation strategies and restrictive intervention.
  • Experience working with KS2 children.
