Job Description

I am currently working with a wonderful primary school based in the heart of Preston.

The school are looking to appoint 2 qualified and experienced teaching assistants to join them in September for the full Academic year. Both roles are full time working in EYFS.

SEN Teaching Assistant (2 Positions)

Hours: 8:45am – 3:15pm daily (30-minute lunch break)

We are seeking two experienced and resilient SEN Teaching Assistants to support a group of Reception-aged children with a range of additional needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide tailored support to Reception pupils with:
    • Speech and Language (S&L) needs
    • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
    • Challenging behaviour
  • Support learning, development, and social interaction in the classroom and wider school environment.
  • Implement strategies to manage behaviour positively and effectively.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff and SEN professionals.
  • Provide personal care support, including intimate care and nappy changing where required.

Essential Requirements

  • Previous experience working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), particularly ASD and Speech & Language needs.
  • Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Confident, proactive, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Comfortable undertaking intimate care duties as part of the role.
  • A nurturing, patient, and resilient approach.

Ideal Candidate

We are looking for strong, experienced TAs who are confident supporting children with complex needs and challenging behaviours, while maintaining high expectations and providing a safe, supportive learning environment.

Hours: 8:45am – 3:15pm (30-minute unpaid lunch break)
