Summary Lostock Hall Community Primary School is a large two form entry primary school. Rated ‘Good’ in all areas by Ofsted. We are part of Axia Learning Alliance and have close links with Embrace Teaching School Hub and local schools in and around South Ribble.

We are seeking to appoint a Teaching Assistant to work initially in Early Years to support children with SEND. This role would then be subject to working in other primary phase classes. Experience of working with children in primary year groups is essential.

We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic, flexible team player who has high expectations of all children to support the class teacher in a whole class setting and deliver intervention sessions to groups of children. The role will include providing support to children with additional needs on a one-to-one basis.

Responsibilities
  • Implement learning activities for individuals with SEND
  • Implement learning activities for groups
  • Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to the class teacher
  • Establish supportive and constructive relationships with staff and pupils
  • The role will include daily lunchtime supervision of pupils, first aid, and playground duties

The hours for this role are 31 hours 40 minutes per week, Monday to Friday, 8.30am- 3.20pm with 30 minutes for lunch.

This position is part time, term time only, please note the salary quoted is full time equivalent. If successful, the salary received will be paid on a pro –rata basis.

Essential Qualifications
  • Level 2 or equivalent qualification in English/Literacy and Mathematics/Numeracy
  • NVQ level 2 or above qualification –appropriate to the post (or equivalent)
Desirable Qualifications
  • First Aid certificate
  • Forest School
Essential Experience
  • Experience of working with or caring for children in Early Years & Key Stage 1
  • Experience of working in a relevant classroom environment
  • Experience of covering the class in the absence of the teacher
  • Experience of supporting children with additional needs
Desirable Experience
  • Experience of Administrative work
  • Experience of supporting pupils with challenging behaviour
  • Experience of delivering intervention sessions to groups of children
  • Experience of de‑escalation strategies and restrictive intervention
  • Experience of working with children in KS2
