Are you a hands‑on Management Accountant looking to take ownership of month‑end, reporting, and a small team in a growing organisation? At Expleo UK, we’re looking for a proactive, detail‑focused Management Accountant to join our Preston‑based finance team and play a key role in delivering accurate, insightful financial information that drives business decisions.

Responsibilities
  • In this Management Accountant role with Expleo, you will be a key member of the finance function, responsible for delivering accurate and timely financial information and supporting robust financial controls.
  • Lead key elements of the month‑end close process, including preparing and posting accruals, prepayments and other journals.
  • Prepare and complete month‑end reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and resolving variances in a timely manner.
  • Deliver insightful P&L and balance sheet analysis, highlighting trends, risks and opportunities to finance leadership.
  • Support the production of monthly management accounts and internal reporting packs.
  • Maintain accurate records and working papers to support audit and statutory reporting requirements.
  • Support internal audit activities, helping to strengthen financial controls and processes.
  • Process the quarterly VAT returns, ensuring compliance with HMRC requirements.
  • Manage and mentor a small transactional team, providing guidance, support and oversight.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes, improve reporting and enhance the quality and timeliness of financial information.
Qualifications
  • Part‑qualified or newly qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent), or actively studying towards one of these qualifications.
  • Alternatively, significant relevant experience in a Management Accountant or similar role with strong month‑end and reporting exposure will also be considered.
Essential skills
  • Strong understanding of journals, accruals, prepayments, reconciliations and P&L / balance sheet analysis.
  • Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy and completeness.
  • Self‑motivated, with the ability to take ownership of tasks and work to deadlines.
  • Confident working with people at different levels across the business, with a collaborative and solution‑focused approach.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (e.g. lookups, pivots, complex formulas) for analysis and reporting.
Experience
  • Experience using Power BI for reporting and data visualisation.
  • Previous experience with Sage Intact or similar cloud‑based finance/ERP systems.
  • Experience producing VAT returns and dealing with HMRC queries.
  • Exposure to internal audit, control frameworks or process improvement projects.
  • Experience with in an engineering services or consulting environment.
  • Experience in a finance or accounting role with involvement in month‑end close and management accounts
  • Experience supporting or supervising a small team, or clear potential to step into a people leadership role.
