Your new company This is an excellent opportunity to join a well established and successful business based in Nelson. Operating for many years within the machinery sector, the company has built a strong reputation for delivering specialist equipment and services to customers across the UK and internationally. Your new role As Finance Manager, you will take ownership of the day to day finance function, reporting directly to the senior leadership team and playing a key role in supporting business performance.
Your responsibilities will include preparing monthly management accounts, balance sheets and trial balances, managing cash flow, overseeing payroll, VAT returns and pension submissions, and ensuring the smooth running of all transactional finance activities. You will also be responsible for banking activities, foreign currency transactions, board reporting, and supporting the annual audit process. Working within a small and collaborative team, this is a broad, hands-on role that offers significant autonomy and the opportunity to contribute to both financial and operational decision making across the business.
What you'll need to succeed To be successful in this role, you will have proven experience in a broad, hands on finance position, ideally within an SME environment. You will be confident preparing management accounts, balance sheets and cash flow forecasts, whilst overseeing transactional finance processes, payroll and VAT returns. Experience using Sage accounting systems, particularly Sage 200, would be highly advantageous, alongside strong Excel and Microsoft 365 skills.
Excellent organisational and communication skills are essential, as you'll be working closely with senior stakeholders and supporting a variety of finance and business operations. A proactive approach, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities independently will be key to your success.
What you'll get in return In return, you'll receive a salary of up to 55,000 depending on experience, alongside the opportunity to take ownership of a broad and varied finance role within a well established business. Working closely with senior leadership, you'll play a key part in supporting business performance and decision-making, while benefiting from a collaborative working environment and a comprehensive benefits package.
