Are you passionate about improving local communities and helping create cleaner, safer neighbourhoods? We are looking for a proactive, motivated and enthusiastic Clean Environment Officer to join our Neighbourhood Services team.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in improving environmental quality across the city through inspections, community engagement, data analysis, enforcement support, and service improvement initiatives.
Working closely with operational teams, businesses, residents, councillors and partner organisations, you will help drive high standards of environmental cleanliness while supporting innovative approaches to tackle littering, fly-tipping and other environmental issues.
As a Clean Environment Officer, you will:
- Carry out environmental quality surveys and inspections across the city.
- Monitor and grade streets for litter, fly-tipping, graffiti, dog fouling, weeds, detritus and other environmental concerns.
- Analyse survey data and prepare reports, presentations and performance information.
- Undertake Duty of Care checks on commercial premises to ensure compliance with waste regulations.
- Support Waste Enforcement Officers through evidence gathering and investigations.
- Manage and develop the volunteer litter-picking programme.
- Organise community litter picks, environmental action days and engagement events.
- Conduct litter bin audits and identify opportunities to improve provision across the city.
- Respond to customer enquiries and complaints from residents, businesses and elected members.
- Work collaboratively with internal and external partners to improve environmental services.
- Attend community meetings, including occasional evening and weekend events.
