We have an exciting opportunity for Senior Mental Health Nurse to join our Mental Health Team at HMP Kirkham, a category D prison located in Kirkham, Preston with a capacity of 700 males.

In this role you will support and coordinate a small team of two, having a good understanding of mental health pathways, providing data and quality assurance. The role is split 30% management and 70% clinical. You will be based in the prison’s own Healthcare department and manage a registered nurse and a nurse associate.

Hours
  • Monday – Friday
  • 8 am – 4 pm
  • Monday and Thursday are drop‑in sessions ending at 6 pm
  • Weekend work as and when required
Salary

You will receive an annual salary of £43,609 – £49,175 per annum depending on experience.

Main duties of the job
  • Responsible for assessment and ongoing management of patients’ mental health needs.
  • Work collaboratively with the multi‑disciplinary team as an autonomous practitioner managing a caseload of patients, assessing their physical, social and psychological needs to develop a holistic health care plan.
  • Contribute to our nursing strategy and vision to provide outstanding evidence‑based care to our patients, seeking out, listening to and acting on their feedback so that care is personalised and informed by what matters to them.
  • Deliver non‑judgemental care, building therapeutic relationships and promoting professional boundaries.
  • Play an active part in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patients’ care following our policies and procedures and always considering safeguarding.
