- You will be required to work on a rotating pattern of three shifts one week and two shifts the next.

• Flexibility – required to work night shifts including weekends and bank holidays
• Availability for training on weekdays
• Good written skills and ability to write basic reports and record information accurately
• Basic IT skills – using online care systems and writing emails
• Good verbal communication and listening skills
• Maintain a professional working boundary
• Remain calm in emergencies, supporting others during difficult situations

• NVQ Level 2 qualification or equivalent in Care
• Full UK Manual Driving Licence – not automatic
• Previous experience working with young people who have mental health needs

At Care in Mind our homes are hubs of activity where young people can feel safe and staff enjoy working. You will be present during night hours, interacting with occupants and supporting their wellbeing, education, household tasks and general life skills. Responsibilities include incident management and de‑escalation of challenging behaviours, updating online care records, completing medication administration and providing effective handovers to day staff.

You will also maintain the general upkeep and tidiness of the home, ensuring a homely environment. Though working nights, you will have support from another night worker or a sleep‑in and access to an on‑call manager for additional help.

We employ young people with a variety of mental health diagnoses including personality disorder, PTSD, eating‑disorder difficulties and self‑harm. The role requires patience, resilience, compassion, and the ability to support them in developing new skills and independence.

• Formal qualifications in care
• Understanding or experience of issues faced by young people
• Experience working in a team environment
• Good written communication skills
• Good IT skills – ability to write emails and use Microsoft Office
• Full UK driving licence – manual, able to drive service car unsupervised
• Ability to work night shift, weekends and bank holidays
