Overview

We are seeking a caring and reliable Night Shift Care Assistant to join our team at Ribble Court Care Home. The successful candidate will support residents with their care needs throughout the night, ensuring they receive compassionate and responsive support tailored to their individual preferences and requirements. You will work collaboratively with colleagues to maintain high standards of care while helping residents feel secure, respected and valued.

Main Duties of the Job

The Night Shift Care Assistant is responsible for providing safe, effective and compassionate care to residents during night shifts. The postholder will support residents' physical, emotional and social wellbeing while promoting dignity, choice and independence in all aspects of care delivery. Working as part of a dedicated care team, the successful candidate will contribute to maintaining a safe and supportive environment where residents receive high‑quality care in accordance with their individual needs, preferences and care plans.

The role requires excellent communication skills, a caring nature and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of professional practice.

Job Responsibilities
  • Deliver high‑quality, person‑centred care in accordance with individual care plans.
  • Support residents throughout the night, promoting comfort, dignity and wellbeing.
  • Assist residents with personal care and night‑time routines where required.
  • Monitor residents' wellbeing and promptly report any concerns or changes in condition.
  • Provide emotional support, reassurance and companionship to residents.
  • Promote residents' independence, privacy and choice at all times.
  • Support residents with hydration and general wellbeing needs during the night.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation in line with company policies and procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure continuity and consistency of care.
  • Contribute to maintaining a safe, clean and comfortable environment throughout the home.
  • Follow safeguarding, health and safety, infection prevention and control policies and procedures at all times.
  • Participate in mandatory training and ongoing learning and development opportunities.
  • Uphold the values and standards of Ribble Court Care Home and Sandstone Care Group.
  • Support colleagues and contribute positively to a culture of teamwork, respect and professionalism.
  • Undertake any other duties reasonably required to support the effective operation of the home.
Person Specification / Experience

What are we looking for?

  • A positive outlook and a warm personality.
  • Able to demonstrate a genuine interest in working in the health and social care sector – experience is beneficial but certainly not essential.
  • Flexibility to work shift patterns according to the needs of our residents.
