Job Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for Primary Care Nurse to join our Primary Care team at HMP Kirkham, a category D Prison located in Kirkham, Preston. The prison has its own Healthcare department where you will be based and the primary care team consists of a team of 10.

HMP Kirkham is a capacity of 700 males, with onsite parking, staff gym access, onsite farm shop and café. Training development opportunities are available.

Hours:

Monday – Thursday 8am–7pm, Friday 8am–4:30pm, Weekend 8am–12pm (1 weekend in
4). Rotas are published 2 months in advance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work within a multi-disciplinary team to deliver a nurse led service and prevent hospital admissions.
  • Undertake medication rounds, dispense controlled medication, attend emergency response situations, assess patients, and undertake reception screening.
  • Deliver nurse led clinics to your patient group whilst being supported by a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Provide outstanding evidence based care to our patients, seeking out, listening to and acting on their feedback, so that care is personalised and informed by what matters to them.
  • Deliver non-judgemental care that makes a real difference.
  • Inspire excellence by forging strong links with our partners and stakeholders.
  • Promote best practice, clinical supervision, evidence based care and continuous quality improvement, embedding a culture of shared learning.
  • Share knowledge, skills and expertise to ensure safe care, building strong multi-disciplinary teams.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Registered nurse Adult – NMC.
  • Evidence of Continued Professional Development.
  • Understanding of the complexities of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working.
  • A non-judgemental and compassionate approach.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Experience in a hospital, community or prison environment (ideal but not essential).

Salary

This position is full time, you’ll receive an annual salary between £34,428 - £41,659 per annum depending on experience.
