The Ohio State University College of Medicine and OSU Athletics seek a clinical sport psychologist to join the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Health. Academic rank and track commensurate with academic record and experience.

Position Overview

At OSU, we are committed to providing compassionate, evidence-based care. The mission of the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral health is to improve, advance, and innovate behavioral healthcare and foster resilience in our patients and our communities. Our emphasis across conditions is on delivery and development of empirically supported treatments and approaches. We are interested in candidates that complement our current strengths and support our tripartite mission – patient care, education, and clinical research.

We seek to hire faculty to help build our Sport Psychology & Wellness Program. The successful candidate will join our interdisciplinary Sport Psychology team, housed within OSU Athletics, serving the behavioral health and wellness needs of our student‑athletes. The psychologist directs or provides care in a manner consistent with the privileges granted them by the governing body of University Hospitals and as approved by the University Board of Trustees.

Department/Division Overview
The successful candidates will join a 60+-member Section of Psychology in the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Health. Our Section offers robust training opportunities, including externship experiences, psychology pre-doctoral internship, and several fellowship programs. Duties and Responsibilities
Faculty responsibilities are consistent with our tripartite mission – patient care, education, and clinical research. The Sport Psychologist will provide psychotherapy and mental skills training for OSU student‑athletes; will represent OSU at professional meetings and community speaking engagements; will collaborate with the Sports Medicine Behavioral Health team of sport psychologists, athletic counselors, postdoctoral fellows, and pre‑doctoral interns; and will collaborate with Sports Medicine staff including orthopedic surgeons, sports medicine physicians, athletic trainers, physical therapists, nurses, and sport dietitians.

This role requires thorough knowledge of the DSM‑5 and mental health diagnoses within the ICD‑10. The individual selected for this position will have ample opportunities to contribute to training, research, and other scholarly pursuits. Other duties include but are not limited to representing the program or Department by participating in committees, conferences, and representing OSU at professional meetings and community speaking engagements.
