Production Operative

Location:

Preston, PR5 Pay Rate: £14.29 per hour

Hours:

40 hours per week The Best Connection are recruiting for a Production Operative to join a well-established manufacturing business based in Preston (PR5). This is an excellent opportunity to join a leading organisation within the aerospace supply chain.

As a Production Operative, you will be responsible for picking materials from warehouse racks or collecting materials directly from machinery for customer orders.

You will operate Plate and Bar Saw machines to cut metal to precise specifications, while ensuring all quality and safety procedures are followed.

You may also be required to load and unload vehicles and use a scanning system to accurately store materials within the warehouse.

Shift Pattern:
Rotating weekly shifts (Monday to Friday):
Week 1: 6:00am - 2:00pm Week 2: 2:00pm - 10:00pm

Key Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate Plate Saw and Bar Saw machines.
  • Pick and prepare customer orders accurately.
  • Ensure materials are cut to the required specifications.
  • Maintain full warehouse traceability through accurate scanning and record keeping.
  • Check incoming and outgoing deliveries for quality and quantity.
  • Load and unload deliveries as required.
  • Operate a forklift truck (when authorised) to move materials and complete job documentation.
  • Use appropriate measuring equipment to verify product dimensions.
  • Adhere to all health, safety and quality procedures.
About You
  • Experience setting and operating machinery within a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Valid Forklift Truck Counterbalance Licence.
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • A reliable and dependable approach to work.
  • A self-motivated attitude with a willingness to learn.
  • Flexibility to undertake a variety of production tasks.
  • Strong teamwork skills.
  • Basic IT skills and confidence using scanning systems.
