We are currently recruiting for an experienced Aerospace NC Programmer to join a leading aerospace manufacturing environment in Preston on an initial 6-month contract, with the potential for extension.
The RoleAs an Aerospace NC Programmer, you will be responsible for developing, proving and optimising 3-, 4- and 5-axis CNC machining programmes using CATIA V5 Manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities- Create and optimise 3-, 4- and 5-axis CNC programmes using CATIA V5 Manufacturing.
- Interpret complex engineering drawings, CAD models, GD&T and manufacturing specifications.
- Define machining strategies, tooling, cutting parameters and work holding requirements.
- Produce setup sheets, tooling lists and supporting manufacturing documentation.
- Carry out toolpath simulation, verification and collision checking.
- Support programme prove-outs and resolve machining issues on the shop floor.
- Improve machining cycle times, tool life, quality and overall process capability.
- Work closely with manufacturing, machining, quality and production teams.
- Ensure programmes comply with company procedures, customer requirements and aerospace quality standards.
- Proven experience as an NC/CNC Programmer within aerospace or another high-precision manufacturing environment.
- Strong working knowledge of CATIA V5, particularly Manufacturing/NC Programming modules.
- Experience programming multi-axis CNC milling machines, including 5-axis machining.
- Strong understanding of machining processes, cutting tools, materials and work holding.
- Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings, CAD data and GD&T.
- Experience with toolpath verification and CNC programme prove-out.
- Knowledge of CNC controls and post-processors such as Siemens, Fanuc or Heidenhain.
- Experience machining aerospace-grade aluminium, titanium, stainless steel and nickel-based alloys.
- Experience with in an AS9100-controlled manufacturing environment.
- Experience programming structural airframe, engine, landing gear or other safety-critical aerospace components.
- Knowledge of DFM, Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement principles.
