Practice Nurse

A Practice Nurse post at Rowner Medical Centre, part of a GP practice team that works with a wider primary care network. The work centres on managing long-term conditions such as respiratory disease, alongside wound care, immunisations, travel vaccinations, cervical screening and contraception. The role sits within a multidisciplinary team and includes mentoring health care assistants. Applicants need an RGN qualification and current NMC registration.

• Manage long-term conditions such as respiratory conditions
• Assess, evaluate and monitor treatment plans
• Provide wound care and manage complex pressure dressings
• Give adult and childhood immunisations
• Advise on foreign travel and give travel vaccinations
• Carry out cervical cytology screening
• Manage contraception and carry out sexual health screening
• Promote healthy lifestyles and care navigate patients to appropriate services
• Work collaboratively with GPs to provide high standards of care
• Mentor and support health care assistants
• Ensure infection control policies are followed and kept current
• Take part in practice audits, development plans and meetings

• RGN qualification
