HGV Waste Water Operative – Lanes Group

We are seeking a HGV Waste Water Operative to join our team and work alongside a United Utilities Customer Support Technician. The role involves working on the Bucket 1 reactive contract resolving sewer network problems.

Hours & Pay
  • 42.5 hours per week – shift‑based pattern with front shift (8am‑6pm) and back shift (12pm‑10pm). Weekends and bank holidays are included.
  • Annual salary: £33,326‑£37,525, depending on experience and tickets. Overtime at 1.5×.
Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with a CST (UU Operative) to clean, camera, and carry out sewer investigations as directed by United Utilities.
  • Attend to customers, inform them of forthcoming works and address any concerns or timescales.
  • Inspect drainage systems to identify blockages, leaks, or damage that could hinder water flow.
  • Operate and maintain high‑pressure water jetting equipment to clear blockages in drains, sewers, pipes, and other wastewater systems.
  • Carry out CCTV inspections where required to assess the condition of underground pipes and sewers.
  • Use electronic devices (laptop/tablet) for accurate data entry.
  • Report safety issues in line with company procedures.
  • Perform routine maintenance and servicing of high‑pressure water jetting equipment.
Requirements
  • HGV Class 2 licence (required).
  • Drivers licence with no more than 6 penalty points.
Desirable
  • Experience with JHL City Flex’s or training is provided.
  • Experience in high‑pressure jetting – training will be provided.
  • Excellent listening and communication skills.
  • Competence in IT and accurate data entry.
  • Team player with a positive, can‑do attitude.
Training & Development

Full training will be given in Jetting, SLG, First Aid, Manual Handling, and Confined Spaces.
