Location:
Lancashire (Hybrid / Countywide)
If you're an experienced SEND professional ready to take the lead on complex casework while helping others develop their practice, this role offers the opportunity to make a real difference at both individual and service level.
Lancashire's Inclusion Service is strengthening its SEND workforce to ensure children and young people receive timely, high‑quality, person‑centred support. We are committed to inclusive practice, strong multi‑agency collaboration and continuous improvement across the SEND system.
As a Senior SEND EHCP Officer, you will play a pivotal role in delivering statutory SEND services – leading complex EHCP work, supporting colleagues and contributing to service improvement that benefits families across the county.
This is a role for someone who combines technical expertise with confidence, compassion and professional leadership.
About the RoleAs Senior SEND EHCP Officer, you will manage a complex caseload of children and young people aged 0‑25, overseeing the full Education, Health and Care (EHC) process from assessment through to review, transition and, where appropriate, cessation. You will ensure plans are legally compliant, high‑quality and delivered within statutory timescales.
You will lead and chair reviews, contribute to and support tribunal preparation, mediation and panel decision‑making, and resolve complex issues through effective partnership working with families, settings and multi‑agency professionals. Your work will include supporting transitions between key stages and into adulthood.
Alongside your own caseload, you will provide guidance, mentoring and technical support to SEND EHCP Officers, contributing to consistent, high‑quality practice across the service. You will deliver technical training, support peer learning and play an active role in service‑wide improvement initiatives aligned with Lancashire's Vision for SEND.
This is a role where your expertise will shape outcomes – not just for individual children, but for the service as a whole.
About YouYou will bring strong experience working with children, young people and families – ideally within SEND – alongside a deep understanding of SEND legislation, the Children and Families Act 2014, the SEND Code of Practice and safeguarding responsibilities.
You are confident managing complexity, analysing professional advice, making balanced judgements and producing clear, detailed EHCPs and reports. You communicate effectively with families and professionals, even in challenging situations, and you are able to influence, challenge and resolve issues constructively.
You enjoy supporting colleagues, sharing knowledge and promoting best practice. You are organised, resilient and able to manage competing priorities while maintaining high standards of accuracy, quality and professionalism.
You will hold a professional or degree‑level qualification or equivalent experience. This is an essential car user post, and you must be able to provide a vehicle insured for business use.
