OverviewPrestwick Aerosystems is a leading aircraft manufacturing employer that manufactures aircraft wing structures on our Prestwick site. The role centres on managing accurate bills of materials in the Enterprise Resource Planning System, deploying engineering processes, and translating design data for production.
Responsibilities- Accountable for the management and development of accurate “Bills of Materials” within the ERP system.
- Ensure valid engineering processes are deployed within the manufacturing process and detailed within the process routing to satisfy MRPII discipline requirements.
- Manage formal engineering changes communicated and agreed with customers and internal stakeholders.
- Deploy continuous‑improvement tools to enable productivity and product‑quality improvements across the business and supply chain.
- Translate design data (e.g., CAD/CATIA) and specifications into clear work instructions for manufacturing, meeting customer and regulatory authority requirements.
- Support the Quality and Engineering Team Leader in PDR, training/development and related WTMS responsibilities.
- Maintain, develop and compile detailed work packages and Conditions of Supply for external suppliers.
- Lead continuous‑improvement initiatives: analyse and eliminate waste (seven wastes), implement production smoothing, Kanban systems, reduce set‑up and cycle times, and apply problem‑solving tools.
- Work closely with design to identify and implement cost‑reduction initiatives and product quality improvements.
- Liaise with operators, design and regulatory authorities to ensure product integrity and compliance.
- Participate in the Manufacturing Engineering staff PDR process.
- Relevant engineering experience within a manufacturing‑engineering environment.
- Knowledge of engineering systems and the ability to deploy continuous‑improvement toolsets (seven wastes, etc.).
- Awareness of drawings and systems used by major customers such as Boeing and Airbus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access).
- 37 hour working week (half day Friday).
