Child Protection Technical Support – Ethiopia – Plan International

Plan International Ethiopia is the implementation partner for child protection programmes in Gambella. The position holder will provide comprehensive technical support to the implementation of child protection policy and related programmes within the Program Area and/or refugee camp.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to child protection policy implementation in the PA and refugee camp.
  • Maintain strong linkages with Harmful Traditional Practices (HTP) initiatives focused on early marriage and other emergency response programmes across the PA.
  • Deliver results aligned with agreed programme plans and objectives while overseeing the application of child protection policies at the PA level.
  • Strengthen protection mechanisms and promote positive community practices that prevent harmful traditional practices and violence against children.

Qualifications

  • BA degree in Sociology, Social Work, Psychology, Child Development, Development studies or related fields.
  • Minimum of 3 years of humanitarian aid experience applied in emergency/recovery response operations focusing on child protection and youth programmes.
  • Excellent knowledge of child protection and GBV minimum standards and basic principles; good knowledge of GBV, child protection case management, CPIMS and MHPSS.
  • Excellent knowledge of basic child protection & youth principles, child & adult development & learning, and CFS.
  • Good knowledge of donor grants and contract regulations ECHO & UN agencies.
  • Excellent written, verbal communication skills in English and local language.
  • Proposal and report writing skills.

Safeguarding and GEI

  • Understands and puts into practice responsibilities under Safeguarding and GEI policies and Plan International’s Code of Conduct (CoC).
  • Ensures staff are properly inducted on safeguarding and GEI roles.
  • Embeds global safeguarding and GEI policies in day‑to‑day work.
  • Contributes to global efforts to ensure safeguarding and GEI, including submission of relevant reporting and data.
