The opportunity:
Plan International Ethiopia is looking for an Education in Emergency Assistant for the project funded by ECHO. The position holder shall support the implementation of activities as planned, assist in compiling project reports and best practices and contribute to strategies for effective project operations. The EiE Assistant will play a supportive role in the effective implementation of the ECHO project in emergency and crisis‑affected contexts.
The assistant will focus on integrating child protection and education approaches into teaching and learning, facilitate that children in these settings have access to quality education opportunities. The role involves daily follow‑up, management of teachers, coordination, support, capacity building assistance, monitoring and reporting to achieve the project’s goals.
The Individual:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Early Childhood Development, Psychology, Social Work, or related field. A Master’s degree is an advantage.
- Minimum of 1‑3 years of experience in Education in Emergency (EiE) or related fields.
- Proven experience in implementing and supporting Education in Emergencies (EiE) and psychosocial support (PSS) programs for children in emergency or crisis‑affected contexts.
- Strong understanding of EiE frameworks, policies, standards and best practices.
- Strong communication, facilitation and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with children, teachers, community members and other stakeholders.
- Experience in capacity building, including training, mentoring and supporting teachers and community members.
- Good computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant applications.
Safeguarding Children and Program Participants (Safeguarding) and Gender Equality and Inclusion (GEI):
- Understands and puts into practice the responsibilities under Safeguarding and GEI policies and Plan International’s Code of Conduct (CoC), ensuring that concerns are reported and managed per the appropriate procedures.
- Ensures that all staff in the unit/function/department are properly inducted on and understand their role in upholding Plan International’s safeguarding and GEI policies;
- Ensures that Plan International’s global policies for Safeguarding Children and Program Participant and Gender Equality and Inclusion are fully embedded in day‑to‑day work.
- Ensures that Plan Ethiopia contributes to Plan International’s global efforts to ensure safeguarding and GEI, including making sure that relevant reporting and data are submitted.

Eligibility: This position is only open to Ethiopian Nationals, who must be eligible to live and work in Ethiopia.
