Structural Engineer

We are seeking a structural technician/technologist engineer to join our growing Western Cape team. This role involves hands‑on design work, condition assessments, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders on key structural projects.

07:45–16:35, Monday to Friday

Salary Range or Budget (optional): R 950 000 per annum

Undertake detailed structural engineering design using the latest and most relevant structural engineering design software.

Lead and manage a team in the analysis, design, and delivery of structural engineering solutions across multiple projects.

Apply sound engineering judgement to develop practical, safe, and compliant technical solutions.

Prepare and review technical reports, calculations, and design documentation.

Supervise Engineers and Technicians in carrying out checks and inspections of constructed works to ensure compliance with approved designs and specifications, including identifying and proposing remedial actions where required.

Present technical work, capabilities, and service offerings to potential and existing clients.

Oversee construction activities through to project completion, ensuring delivery on time and within budget.

Support management staff with technical, operational, and project‑related inputs.

Manage multidisciplinary teams and coordinate with multiple stakeholders across projects.

Work concurrently on multiple projects and contracts while maintaining quality and delivery standards.

Provide technical support to other departments as required.

Develop and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring high levels of client satisfaction.

Assist with project financial management, including budgeting, revenue forecasting, and cost control.

Support business development activities by assisting in sourcing, winning, and delivering new work for the department.

Contribute to the preparation and submission of RFQs, tenders, and proposals.

Mentor and support Candidate Engineers and Technicians, contributing to skills development and succession planning.

Minimum Qualifications
: BSc/BEng or BTech in Civil Engineering

Professional Registration(s): ECSA registration (preferred)

Years of Relevant Experience
:
Min 5+ years, preferably in a structural engineering post

ECSA registration Preferred Project Experience
:
Strong technical expertise in reinforced concrete, structural steel, masonry, and timber structures

Technical Skills / Software Required
:
Proficient in structural analysis/design software (e.g., Prokon, ETABS, Tekla, SAP
2000, AutoCAD, Revit)

Soft Skills or Cultural Fit Qualities

• Excellent communication, report writing, and interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of costing/pricing methodology.
• Excellent project and programme management and administration skills.
• Ability to work independently and make sound engineering judgments
• Proven experience in managing multi‑disciplinary teams and multiple stakeholders, including service providers, communities, clients, and project teams, is required
