About the roleThe Software Technician is responsible for setting up, configuring, testing, and supporting integrated systems in line with standard solutions and product specifications. This role focuses on system configuration from bare metal, integration testing, debugging, and ensuring systems meet quality, reusability, and extensibility standards. The incumbent will work in a lab environment, support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), and ensure all deliverables comply with configuration management and documentation standards.
Qualificationand experience
- Minimum Diploma in Electronic Engineering or similar qualification.
- Preferably an Advanced Diploma in Electronic Engineering or equivalent.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in design and development environments.
- Preferably 5 years’ experience in a similar technical or systems integration role.
- Ability to perform integration testing of hardware and software systems.
- Ability to soak hardware and software to validate stability and performance.
- Ability to configure products according to standard solutions.
- Ability to set up and provision workstations and servers from bare metal.
- Strong fault-finding skills in unfamiliar environments within reasonable time frames.
- Ability to maintain the lab environment and manage lab inventory.
1. Testing
- Successfully complete integration testing for all assigned systems.
- Verify that all components meet defined acceptance criteria and pass Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT).
- Identify, document, and elevate integration issues to the Product Owner with clear evidence and impact assessment.
- Deliver fully configured systems in line with system and product specifications.
- Provision and configure workstations from bare metal using approved OS images.
- Install and validate system software to final functional state.
- Maintain an up-to-date and compliant software baseline using approved tools.
- Ensure systems are installation-ready prior to Internal Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) and Quality Assurance FAT.
- Ensure all deliverables comply with configuration management principles and documentation standards.
- Maintain accurate configuration records and version control for all system components.
- Log bugs timeously with clear descriptions of conditions and reproduction steps.
- Provide root cause analysis, resolution procedures, and supporting evidence for each defect.
- Deliver assigned work within agreed effort and timelines.
- Submit complete and accurate timesheets weekly and within required deadlines.
