Introduction
Role Overview
As a specialist, you will develop and coordinate environmental studies across various project phases. You will be responsible for ensuring technical excellence in reporting, navigating the E-WULAAS system, and maintaining strong relationships with clients and regulatory authorities.
Duties & ResponsibilitiesKey Responsibilities
- Licensing & Applications: Prepare high-quality Water-use applications and EIA/ESIA reports using technical knowledge and specialist inputs.
- Systems Management: Expertly navigate and manage the E-WULAAS process (Required).
- Compliance & Legislation: Apply legislative knowledge to identify project triggers and ensure full regulatory compliance.
- Data Analysis: Analyse environmental data using established procedures and software tools.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Assist with Public Participation and Stakeholder Engagement processes.
- Project Management: Work within budget and schedule with moderate supervision; coordinate with authorities for environmental approvals.
- Mentorship: Guide Junior Environmental Scientists and contribute to high-standard specialist reporting.
- Client Support: Support client meetings and contribute to the development of technical proposals.
Minimum Requirements
Education & Professional Registration
- B-Tech / Degree or higher in Environmental Studies or a related field.
- SACNASP Professional Registration (Required).
- Beneficial: BSc Hons or equivalent in a biological or environmental science field (NQF level
8). - Beneficial:
Qualifications in Hydrology or Riverine and Wetland Ecosystems

Experience & Skills
- E-WULAAS & Water-use Licences: Significant relevant experience (Required).
- Environmental Assessments: Relevant experience in assessments and compliance (Preferred).
- General: Valid Driver’s License (Code B or higher) and a valid South African Work Permit.
