Our client is seeking a Master Technician:
Mechanical to join their team in Pretoria West.
To ensure the availability of converting equipment for production, and to execute preventative maintenance activities to improve mechanical reliability of all machines. Maintenance activities include compliance with maintenance quality control, engineering codes and standards, statutory rules and regulations, and maintenance troubleshooting and diagnostics.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure 24-hour operations are achieved by attending to priority equipment repairs and preventative maintenance
- Attend to major breakdown repairs timeously
- Ensure all maintenance work is executed safely and efficiently
- Improve maintenance activities by reinstating industry quality standards to reduce rework and abnormal downtime
- Identify root causes of equipment failures and repetitive repairs; agree corrective actions with the Site Engineer
- Ensure spare part availability
- Actively manage factory equipment risk profile, focusing on high-priority items
- Play an active role in processes aimed at maximising equipment reliability and reducing cost of maintenance
- Ensure work by external service providers meets agreed standards and safety requirements
- Identify safety risks and implement agreed corrective measures
- Coach and develop peers to improve team skills
- Drive and support all programmes (Safety, Health and Risk, Asset Management, Vision and Values, ISO 9001 & 14001)
- Adhere to agreed KPIs
- Be a team player
- N4 or N6 in Mechanical Engineering
- Relevant trade test
- Minimum 10 years'' post-apprentice experience
- FMCG manufacturing environment experience (essential)
- Advanced mechanical fault-finding; understanding of converting and packaging machine timing and mechanical drives (preferred)
- Equipment availability and uptime targets met
- Preventative maintenance schedule adherence
- Reduction in rework and abnormal downtime
- Safety risk identification and corrective measures implemented
- Peer coaching and skills development contribution
