Role DescriptionDesign Engineers at ADG Mobility (Pty) Ltd contribute to the design, development, and optimization of vehicle mobility and protection systems. In this full-time, on-site role based in Pretoria, team members create detailed designs and models, perform engineering calculations, and prepare technical documentation for components and sub-systems. Day-to-day activities include collaborating with mechanical and electrical engineering teams, using CAD tools to develop and refine product designs, and supporting prototype build, testing, and validation.
Design Engineers also participate in design reviews, contribute to problem-solving during production and integration, and provide input to continuous improvement initiatives and after-sales technical support.
- Strong foundation in Design Engineering and Product Design, with experience developing components, sub-systems, and complete systems.
- Mechanical Engineering skills for structural analysis, materials selection, and integration of mechanical parts into vehicle platforms.
- Proficiency with Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools (e.g., Solid Works, CATIA, or similar) for 3D modeling, assemblies, and technical drawings.
- Electrical Engineering knowledge for integrating electrical and electronic systems within vehicle designs and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams.
- Relevant engineering degree (e.g., Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical, or Product Design) or equivalent practical experience.
- Ability to interpret industry standards, technical specifications, and compliance requirements related to vehicle systems.
- Experience with prototyping, testing, and validation of engineered products, including participation in design reviews and troubleshooting.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional project teams.
- Familiarity with defense, automotive, or heavy vehicle sectors is advantageous.
