A leading technology and engineering organisation is seeking an experienced Senior Power Electronics Development & Compliance Engineer to join its engineering team developing high-power electronic products for automotive and industrial applications
. The successful candidate will contribute across the complete product lifecycle, from requirements definition and hardware design through validation, compliance testing, certification, homologation and production
. This role requires a highly practical engineer with strong experience in high-power power electronics, hardware development, control systems, EMC/EMI, validation and regulatory compliance
.
- Develop high-power power electronic products, including:
- DC/DC converters
- DC/AC inverters
- Battery chargers
- Motor drives
- Related power electronic control systems
- Capture customer, system and regulatory requirements and translate them into clear engineering specifications.
- Develop verification and validation plans based on system and product requirements.
- Participate in hardware design, simulations, design reviews, testing and debugging.
- Support the complete product development lifecycle from concept through production.
- Ensure compliance with applicable automotive and industrial standards throughout product development.
- Plan and execute electrical, EMC/EMI, environmental, thermal, reliability and functional testing.
- Prepare validation documentation, requirements traceability and certification packages.
- Support product homologation and compliance activities.
- Work closely with hardware, firmware, mechanical and systems engineering teams.
- Investigate complex technical issues and implement robust engineering solutions.
- Perform laboratory testing and detailed analysis of high-power electronic systems.
- Support product certification, production release and continuous improvement activities.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering or a related discipline
. - Minimum 8 years' experience developing high-power power electronic products
. - Proven experience designing, validating and commercialising:
- Switch-mode power supplies
- DC/DC converters
- DC/AC inverters
- High-power motor drives
- Experience with power electronic products rated at 10 kW or above
. - Proven experience taking products from concept through design, compliance testing, certification and production
. - Strong understanding of:
- Power electronics
- Control systems
- Thermal design
- Magnetics
- High-power PCB layout
- Strong simulation capability using SPICE, MATLAB/Simulink or equivalent
. - Extensive practical laboratory experience with:
- Oscilloscopes
- High-voltage differential probes
- Current probes
- Spectrum analysers
- Power analysers
- Proven experience debugging power electronic systems, including EMI/EMC issues
. - Demonstrated experience working safely with high-energy systems exceeding 500 VDC
.
Strong knowledge of relevant automotive and industrial standards is required, including exposure to:
- ISO/SAE 21434
- ISO 26262
- UNECE R155 / R156
- CISPR 25
- ISO 7637
- ISO 16750
- Relevant IEC standards
Experience preparing products for certification, homologation and regulatory compliance will be highly advantageous.
