Junior Project Planner
A leading engineering and project management company based in Pretoria East, Gauteng
, is seeking a Junior Project Planner to join its project team. The successful candidate will support the planning and coordination of engineering, construction and project-related activities, assisting with the development, monitoring and maintenance of project schedules to ensure projects remain on track and key deliverables are achieved.
- 1–3 years' experience in a planning, project coordination or project administration role, preferably within the
engineering, construction, mining or EPCM industry
. - Relevant
qualification in Project Management, Engineering, Construction Management or a related technical field will be advantageous. - Basic to intermediate proficiency in
Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project
. - Basic understanding of
project planning, scheduling and project controls
. - Exposure to
engineering, construction or multidisciplinary projects will be advantageous. - Good
Microsoft Excel skills. - Strong
analytical, organisational and administrative skills
. - Excellent attention to detail and ability to work accurately with project information.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel to project sites when required.
- Assist with the
development and maintenance of project schedules
. - Update project programmes using
Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project
. - Monitor project progress and report on schedule performance.
- Assist with identifying
delays, schedule deviations and potential project risks
. - Assist with preparing
short-term and long-term project schedules
. - Support the Project Planner and Project Manager with
critical path and schedule analysis
. - Collect progress information from project teams and update project programmes accordingly.
- Assist with tracking
project milestones, deliverables and key deadlines
. - Assist with resource planning and monitoring of
labour, equipment and materials
. - Compile
weekly and monthly project progress reports
. - Maintain accurate and up-to-date planning and project control documentation.
- Attend project planning meetings and provide relevant scheduling information.
- Assist with
forecasting and recovery planning where projects fall behind schedule. - Liaise with Project Managers, Engineers, Site Teams and other stakeholders to obtain project progress updates.
- Assist with monitoring project performance against approved schedules.
- Ensure planning documentation is maintained in accordance with company and client requirements.
- Provide general
project planning and project controls support to the project team. - Perform any additional planning and project support duties as required by Management.
