About the Role
Our client is looking for a specialized HVAC Mechanical Engineer to join their facilities and engineering team in Pretoria. This role focuses on the design, installation, and maintenance of sophisticated heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems for commercial and industrial buildings. You will be responsible for ensuring optimal system performance, energy efficiency, and compliance with all relevant codes and standards. This position is ideal for an engineer with expertise in thermal sciences and a passion for creating comfortable and efficient indoor environments, contributing to sustainable building practices in Pretoria.
Key Responsibilities- Design and develop HVAC systems for new construction and retrofitting projects, including load calculations, equipment selection, and ductwork design.
- Oversee the installation and commissioning of HVAC systems, ensuring adherence to design specifications and project timelines.
- Conduct energy audits and implement strategies to improve the efficiency and performance of existing HVAC systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex HVAC system issues, providing technical support and recommendations.
- Prepare technical reports, drawings, and specifications related to HVAC systems.
- Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and regulations related to HVAC design and energy efficiency.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with a specialization in HVAC or Thermodynamics.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience specifically in HVAC system design and project management.
- Proficiency with HVAC design software (e.g., HAP, Trace 700) and CAD tools.
- Strong knowledge of building codes, ASHRAE standards, and energy efficiency principles.
- Experience with building management systems (BMS) is a plus.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project coordination skills.
