About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated Civil Engineer with a strong background in Geotechnical Engineering to join their dynamic team in Pretoria . You will be responsible for investigating subsurface conditions and designing foundations, earthworks, and retaining structures for a variety of infrastructure and building projects. This role requires a meticulous approach to problem-solving and a deep understanding of soil mechanics and rock mechanics.
You will contribute to the stability and safety of critical structures, working in a collaborative environment that encourages professional development and innovation within the field of geotechnical science. The hybrid model offers a balance of focused site work and office-based analysis.
- Conduct site investigations, including drilling, sampling, and in-situ testing of soil and rock.
- Perform detailed geotechnical analysis for foundation design, slope stability, and earth retention systems.
- Prepare comprehensive geotechnical investigation reports, recommendations, and design drawings.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities on geotechnical aspects of projects.
- Oversee construction activities related to geotechnical elements to ensure quality and compliance.
- Utilize specialized geotechnical software for analysis and design.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Geotechnical Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng) registration is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in geotechnical investigations and design.
- Proficiency in geotechnical software such as PLAXIS, Geo Studio, or similar.
- Experience with laboratory testing procedures and interpretation of results.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to assess complex geological conditions.
