About the Role
Our client seeks an innovative Product Development Engineer with a specialization in Mechanical Engineering to join their advanced R&D center in Pretoria . This position is centered on the conceptualization, design, prototyping, and testing of new mechanical products and systems. You will be at the forefront of technological innovation, working with a talented team to bring novel ideas to market. This role requires a deep understanding of mechanical principles and a passion for creating next-generation products, offering significant professional growth in a hub of technological advancement.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the mechanical design and development of new products from initial concept through to mass production.
- Conduct rigorous performance testing, validation, and failure analysis on prototypes and production units.
- Develop detailed 3D models, 2D drawings, and technical specifications using advanced CAD software .
- Collaborate with industrial designers, materials engineers, and manufacturing teams to optimize product design for aesthetics, functionality, and manufacturability.
- Research and evaluate new technologies and materials to enhance product performance and features.
- Create and manage prototypes for testing and customer feedback in the Gauteng region.
- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- Minimum of 6 years of hands-on experience in product development and mechanical design.
- Expertise in Solid Works , ANSYS , or similar advanced engineering software.
- Strong knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, materials science, and mechatronics.
- Experience with rapid prototyping techniques and experimental design.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and creative thinking.
