About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Automation Electrical Engineer to contribute to their advanced manufacturing operations in Pretoria . This hybrid role involves designing, implementing, and optimizing automated electrical systems that enhance efficiency and productivity. You will work on a variety of projects, integrating cutting-edge technologies to automate processes and ensure the smooth functioning of sophisticated machinery. The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of automation principles, PLC programming, and industrial controls, eager to make a significant impact in a collaborative setting in the Gauteng province.
Key Responsibilities- Design and develop electrical control systems for automated machinery and production lines, including PLC, HMI, and VFD integration.
- Program and troubleshoot PLCs (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley) and related automation software to ensure optimal system performance.
- Specify electrical components, sensors, actuators, and instrumentation for automated systems, ensuring compatibility and reliability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers and production staff, to integrate automation solutions into existing or new manufacturing processes.
- Perform electrical testing, commissioning, and validation of automated systems, ensuring adherence to safety standards and operational requirements.
- Provide technical support for automation-related issues, diagnose faults, and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in automation electrical engineering, with hands-on PLC programming and HMI development.
- Proficiency in designing electrical schematics for industrial automation and control systems.
- Experience with variable frequency drives (VFDs) and servo systems.
- Strong knowledge of industrial networks and communication protocols (e.g., Profibus, Ethernet/IP).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, hybrid environment.
