About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Control Systems Engineer with expertise in Energy Automation to join their innovative team in Pretoria . This role is crucial for developing, implementing, and maintaining advanced control systems for power generation facilities, substations, and renewable energy plants. You will be responsible for ensuring the efficient, safe, and reliable operation of these critical energy assets through sophisticated automation solutions.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in industrial automation, SCADA systems, and PLC programming, contributing to the modernization of South Africa's energy infrastructure within a forward-thinking organization.
- Design, configure, and commission SCADA, HMI, and PLC systems for power plant operations and grid management.
- Develop and maintain control logic, alarm management systems, and data acquisition strategies.
- Perform system diagnostics, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis of control system failures.
- Collaborate with hardware engineers and field technicians to integrate control systems with physical equipment.
- Ensure the security and integrity of control systems against cyber threats.
- Provide technical training and support to operations and maintenance personnel.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechatronics, or Computer Engineering.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in industrial automation and control systems engineering, specifically within the energy sector .
- Proficiency in programming major PLC platforms (e.g., Siemens, Rockwell) and HMI software.
- Strong understanding of networking protocols used in industrial control systems (e.g., Modbus, DNP3).
- Experience with SCADA system architecture and implementation.
