About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled Process Mechanical Engineer to enhance their operations in the food and beverage industry, based in Pretoria . This role is crucial for optimizing production processes, designing and implementing new processing equipment, and ensuring the mechanical integrity of the plant. You will work closely with production, quality assurance, and maintenance teams to improve efficiency, safety, and product quality.
This is a hands-on role for an engineer passionate about process improvement and operational excellence in a demanding manufacturing environment.
- Analyze existing production processes to identify areas for mechanical improvement and efficiency gains.
- Design, specify, and procure new processing machinery and equipment, ensuring compatibility with existing systems.
- Oversee the installation, commissioning, and validation of new mechanical equipment.
- Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules for critical processing machinery.
- Troubleshoot mechanical failures and implement corrective actions to minimize production downtime.
- Ensure all mechanical designs and modifications comply with food safety standards (e.g., HACCP) and regulatory requirements.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in process engineering, preferably within the food and beverage manufacturing sector.
- Strong understanding of fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and material handling systems relevant to food processing.
- Proficiency in process design software and troubleshooting industrial machinery.
- Experience with project management and capital expenditure justifications.
- Excellent analytical skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
