About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Geotechnical Civil Engineer to join their established team in Pretoria . This role is critical for understanding and advising on soil and rock conditions for a wide range of construction projects, ensuring the stability and safety of foundations and earthworks. You will conduct detailed site investigations, analyze geotechnical data, and provide expert recommendations to support the design and construction phases.
The hybrid nature of this role allows for focused analysis and reporting remotely, complemented by essential site visits and team collaboration in the office.
- Plan and execute geotechnical investigations , including site reconnaissance, drilling, and in-situ testing.
- Analyze soil and rock properties, perform slope stability analysis, and foundation design calculations.
- Develop detailed geotechnical reports with recommendations for foundation design, earthworks, and retaining structures.
- Liaise with clients, project managers, and construction teams to communicate findings and recommendations.
- Ensure all geotechnical designs comply with relevant South African National Standards (SANS) and industry best practices.
- Oversee site work during construction to monitor compliance with geotechnical recommendations.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Geotechnical Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PrEng) registration with ECSA is required.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in geotechnical investigation and design.
- Proficiency in geotechnical software such as Plaxis, Geo Studio, or similar.
- Experience with field testing equipment and interpretation of borehole logs and CPT data.
- Strong technical writing and communication skills.
