About the Role
Our client, based in Pretoria , is seeking a highly experienced Senior Geotechnical Engineer to play a key role in their energy infrastructure development projects. This position involves assessing ground conditions, ensuring foundation integrity, and mitigating geological risks for large-scale energy facilities, including power plants and transmission lines. You will be a vital part of the team, ensuring the structural stability and long-term success of critical energy infrastructure, working predominantly on-site to manage and oversee complex geotechnical investigations.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct comprehensive geotechnical investigations, including site reconnaissance, drilling, and in-situ testing.
- Analyze soil and rock mechanics data to design safe and economical foundations for energy infrastructure.
- Prepare detailed geotechnical reports, specifications, and recommendations for construction.
- Oversee site preparation, earthworks, and foundation construction activities.
- Assess and mitigate geological hazards such as landslides, seismic risks, and soil instability.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies to ensure project requirements are met.
- Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering or a related discipline.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in geotechnical engineering, with a significant focus on energy projects .
- Proven expertise in foundation design, slope stability analysis, and ground improvement techniques.
- Experience with site characterization and interpretation of geophysical and in-situ test data.
- Knowledge of relevant national and international geotechnical codes and standards.
- Strong project management and report writing skills.
