Our client is seeking a specialized Civil Engineer with expertise in geotechnical engineering to join their team in Pretoria . You will be responsible for assessing soil conditions, designing foundations, slope stabilization measures, and earth retaining structures for a wide range of construction projects. This role requires a deep understanding of soil mechanics, foundation engineering, and site investigation techniques. Working in a hybrid model, you will contribute essential geotechnical insights to ensure the stability and longevity of critical infrastructure, supporting the firm's reputation for excellence in complex ground engineering challenges.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct geotechnical site investigations, including drilling, sampling, and in-situ testing.
- Analyze soil and rock properties to determine bearing capacity, settlement, and stability.
- Design foundations (shallow and deep), retaining walls, and slope protection systems.
- Prepare detailed geotechnical reports with recommendations for design and construction.
- Oversee and interpret results from geotechnical laboratory testing.
- Provide technical consultation to project teams and clients on geotechnical matters.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Geotechnical Engineering.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in geotechnical investigations and design.
- Proficiency in geotechnical software such as Geo Studio, PLAXIS, or similar.
- Strong knowledge of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and foundation engineering principles.
- Experience with relevant South African geotechnical standards and guidelines.
- Ability to interpret field and laboratory data effectively.
