Process Safety Engineer - Chemical & Energy

Our client is seeking a vigilant and skilled Process Safety Engineer to bolster their safety initiatives in Pretoria. This critical role focuses on ensuring the highest standards of safety are maintained across all operational processes within the chemical and energy sectors. You will be responsible for identifying potential hazards, assessing risks, and developing robust safety protocols to prevent incidents and protect personnel and the environment.

• Conduct Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) such as HAZOP, LOPA, and FMEA for new and existing processes.
• Develop, implement, and maintain Process Safety Management (PSM) programs in accordance with industry standards.
• Perform incident investigations, root cause analyses, and develop corrective action plans to prevent recurrence.
• Review and approve management of change (MOC) documentation for process modifications.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and company policies.
• Provide safety training and guidance to operational personnel and engineering teams.

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in process safety engineering within the chemical or energy industry.
• In-depth knowledge of PSM elements, risk assessment methodologies, and safety instrumented systems (SIS).
• Experience with safety software and tools for risk assessment and incident tracking.
• Strong understanding of relevant safety codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
