Chemical Process Safety Engineer

Our client is actively recruiting a dedicated Chemical Process Safety Engineer to enhance safety protocols and risk management strategies within their operations in Pretoria . This role is vital for ensuring the safety of personnel, the community, and the environment by proactively identifying and mitigating process-related hazards. You will conduct rigorous safety assessments and develop comprehensive safety programs. • Conduct Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), including HAZOP, LOPA, and What-If studies, for new and existing processes.
• Develop, implement, and manage Process Safety Management (PSM) programs in line with regulatory requirements.
• Perform safety audits and inspections to ensure compliance with internal standards and external regulations.
• Investigate process safety incidents, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Provide technical expertise and training on process safety principles and practices to engineering and operational staff.
• Review engineering designs and modifications to ensure they meet stringent process safety standards.

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a closely related field.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience specifically in process safety engineering within the chemical or petrochemical industry.
• In-depth knowledge of PSM elements (e.g., OSHA ) and relevant safety standards (e.g., CCPS).
• Experience in conducting and facilitating PHAs and risk assessments.
• Strong understanding of safety-critical equipment and instrumentation.
• Excellent analytical, reporting, and communication skills.
