Our client, a major player in the manufacturing sector, is seeking a proactive and experienced Plant Mechanical Engineer to manage and maintain all mechanical systems within their facility in Pretoria . This critical role involves ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and safety of all plant machinery and equipment, minimizing downtime, and implementing preventative maintenance strategies. You will work closely with production, maintenance, and safety teams to optimize operational performance and uphold the highest standards of industrial engineering in a busy manufacturing environment based in Pretoria .
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement comprehensive preventative and predictive maintenance programs for all plant machinery.
- Oversee the installation, repair, and overhaul of mechanical equipment, ensuring minimal disruption to production schedules.
- Conduct regular inspections of plant machinery to identify potential issues and implement timely corrective actions.
- Manage spare parts inventory and ensure availability of critical components.
- Troubleshoot mechanical failures, diagnose root causes, and implement effective solutions.
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations related to mechanical operations.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant technical qualification.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in plant maintenance and mechanical engineering within a manufacturing setting.
- Strong knowledge of industrial machinery, hydraulics, pneumatics, and rotating equipment.
- Experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) software.
- Proven ability to manage maintenance budgets and control costs.
