About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Lead Mining Engineer to spearhead their open-pit operations near Pretoria . This leadership role involves overseeing all aspects of mine planning, production, and operational efficiency for a significant mining site. You will manage a team of mining engineers and technical staff, implement best practices in mine design and execution, and ensure the achievement of production targets while upholding the highest standards of safety and environmental responsibility.
This is a challenging and rewarding position for a proven leader looking to make a substantial contribution to a major mining enterprise.
- Develop and execute short-term and long-term mine plans for open-pit operations, optimizing extraction sequences and resource utilization.
- Supervise and mentor a team of mining engineers, surveyors, and operational supervisors.
- Monitor production performance against targets, identifying and addressing any variances or challenges.
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations, promoting a strong safety culture.
- Collaborate with other departments, including geology, maintenance, and processing, to ensure seamless operations.
- Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a closely related field.
- A minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in open-pit mining engineering and operations.
- Proven experience in mine planning software (e.g., Mine Plan, Surpac) and production management.
- Strong leadership capabilities and experience managing technical teams.
- Excellent understanding of mine safety regulations and environmental stewardship principles relevant to South Africa.
