MTS Tech is seeking a technically strong individual with an engineering background to join our team in an office-based role focused on day to day quotations, supplier coordination, client technical queries, and engineering support. The ideal candidate understands Explosion Prevention (Ex), hazardous area classifications, mining environments, and SANS codes relevant to Ex installations.

This role requires a fast thinker, someone who can take initiative, communicate clearly, and handle both technical and commercial responsibilities with confidence.

• Prepare daily technical quotations for Ex equipment, electrical components, and instrumentation.
• Handle supplier interactions, pricing requests, technical clarifications, and lead-time management.
• Manage client queries, including technical explanations, product selection, and compliance guidance.
• Assist with technical drawings, Ex layout development, and instrumentation identification.
• Interpret and apply SANS standards, Ex codes, and hazardous area requirements.
• Support engineering staff with documentation, datasheets, and project technical administration.
• Ensure all quotations and proposals comply with Ex regulations, mining standards, and safety requirements.
• Work closely with internal teams to ensure accurate information flow and fast turnaround times.

• Technical engineering background (Electrical, E&I, Mechatronics, or similar).
• Strong understanding of Explosion Prevention (Ex) principles and hazardous area classifications.
• Knowledge of mining environments, Ex zones, and related safety requirements.
• Familiarity with SANS standards, Ex codes, and compliance frameworks.
• Ability to read and assist with technical drawings and instrumentation layouts.
• Strong communication skills for dealing with suppliers and clients.
• Fast thinker with the ability to take action and solve problems quickly.
• Computer literate (Excel, Word, email, basic drawing tools).
• Professional, organised, and able to work independently in a structured office environment.

• Experience in hazardous area equipment (Ex d, Ex e, Ex i, Ex t, etc.).
• Understanding of electrical equipment used in mining and industrial plants.
• Experience with technical sales, quotations, or engineering support roles.
• Ability to identify instrumentation (flow, pressure, level, temperature, etc.).
• Familiarity with panel layouts, cable sizing, and basic E&I documentation.
• Knowledge of PLC systems and HMI interfaces (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Schneider, etc.) — ability to interpret logic, understand control philosophy, and assist with basic integration discussions.
