Senior Mechanical Engineer - Product Development & Innovation

Our client, a highly respected engineering firm specializing in innovative product development, is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their dynamic team in Pretoria , Gauteng. This role is focused on leading the mechanical design and development of novel products from concept to market. You will play a key role in brainstorming innovative solutions, creating detailed designs using advanced CAD tools, conducting rigorous simulations and testing, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.

• Lead the mechanical design and development of new products, from initial concept through to final production.
• Utilize advanced CAD software (e.g., Solid Works, Inventor) to create detailed 3D models, assemblies, and 2D manufacturing drawings.
• Perform complex engineering analysis, including stress, thermal, vibration, and fatigue analysis, using FEA software.
• Develop prototypes and conduct rigorous testing to validate designs and ensure performance meets specifications.
• Collaborate closely with electrical engineers, software developers, industrial designers, and manufacturing engineers to ensure integrated and manufacturable product solutions.
• Select appropriate materials and manufacturing processes for optimal product performance, cost, and reliability.
• Identify and implement innovative design solutions to address complex engineering challenges.
• Contribute to patent applications and technical publications.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership within the mechanical engineering team.

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in mechanical design and product development, with a strong portfolio showcasing innovative projects.
• Expert proficiency in 3D CAD modeling and drawing creation (Solid Works preferred).
• Advanced experience with FEA and other simulation tools (e.g., ANSYS, COMSOL).
• Deep understanding of materials science, manufacturing processes, and product lifecycle management.
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical projects and work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
• Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience working within the Pretoria industrial landscape or relevant sectors in Gauteng is advantageous.
