Mechanical Systems Engineer - Industrial Automation

This role is crucial for the design, development, and integration of complex mechanical systems that drive automation processes for various industries. • Design and develop mechanical systems for industrial automation applications, including robotic end-effectors, conveyor systems, and machine guarding.
• Create detailed 3D CAD models and 2D manufacturing drawings using industry-standard software.
• Perform kinematic and dynamic analysis, as well as structural integrity assessments (FEA) for critical components.
• Specify and select appropriate mechanical components such as motors, actuators, bearings, and sensors.
• Collaborate with electrical and software engineers to ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems with control hardware and software.
• Oversee the fabrication, assembly, and testing of prototypes and production systems.
• Develop and document technical procedures for assembly, maintenance, and operation.
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues during development, testing, and field deployment.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives for existing automation solutions.
• Manage design documentation and revision control effectively.

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in mechanical design and systems engineering, with a focus on industrial automation, robotics, or machinery design.
• Proficiency in CAD software such as Solid Works, AutoCAD, or Inventor.
• Experience with FEA tools for stress and performance analysis.
• Solid understanding of mechatronics principles and system integration.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes relevant to automation components.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities and a methodical approach to design challenges.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective team collaboration.
• Ability to work effectively within a Hybrid model in Pretoria, Gauteng , requiring both on‑site and remote workdays.
