Position: Investment Analyst (X4)

Purpose of the role:

  • The objective of the role is to provide support to the unlisted properties deals and transactions team in evaluating and making real estate investment decisions.
Requirements:

Minimum qualifications and experience:

  • Grade 12
  • Bachelor’s degree in commerce, accounting, economics, finance and investments, and property-related studies
  • 2 – 4 years of investment or finance experience
  • Knowledge of the real estate industry and investments
  • Ability to undertake research
  • FAIS RE5 Certificate or must be obtained within 6 months of employment
Preferred qualifications:
  • Postgraduate degree in commerce, accounting, economics, finance and investments, and property-related studies
Duties:
  • Assist in evaluating investment opportunities and making investment decisions
  • Management of internal and external stakeholders
  • Conducting due diligence on direct property investments and property-related companies by researching, analysing financial statements and market data
  • Assist with managing the due diligence process, e.g. ensure that transaction timelines are met through effective project management of internal and external service providers
  • Analysing and interpreting due diligence outcomes across various disciplines (property valuations, financial and tax, technical and town planning)
  • Analysing financial and non‑financial information relating to specific direct properties and/or property portfolios, e.g. property income relative to market rentals, arrear analysis, lease profiles, trading densities, construction costs, development feasibility studies, etc.
  • Analysing financial information relating to specific companies, e.g. company results, profit and loss, balance sheet, cash flow statements and relevant financial ratios to determine how an organisation is positioned to deliver for investors
  • Conduct industry and sectoral analysis on deals
  • Construction and review of financial models, including analysis of returns, sensitivities and scenario analysis, etc
  • Managing and maintaining the deal pipeline (i.e. initial screening of applications, updating status, etc)
  • Ensuring that all compliance regulations are met
  • Presenting investment papers for consideration by various governance structures
