An established, purpose-driven organisation is seeking to appoint a seasoned Senior Finance Manager to lead its financial strategy, governance, and operational finance functions.
This role is ideally suited to a mature finance professional who thrives in a values-based environment and has experience within the NPO / NGO / public-benefit sector. The successful incumbent will provide strategic financial leadership, ensure regulatory compliance, and support long-term organisational sustainability.
Key Responsibilities Financial Strategy & Planning
- Develop and implement the organisation’s financial strategy aligned to strategic objectives
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning
- Provide strategic financial insights to executive leadership and governance structures
- Oversee accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting in accordance with IFRS and applicable standards
- Manage cash flow, working capital, and financial sustainability
- Present consolidated reports to Executive, Audit & Risk Committee, and Board structures
- Oversee end-to-end payroll processes for staff and third parties
- Ensure legislative compliance relating to remuneration and statutory payments
- Maintain integrity and accuracy of payroll systems and reporting
- Ensure compliance with the Income Tax Act, VAT Act, and relevant legislation
- Manage SARS submissions, CIPC filings, and annual external audits
- Strengthen governance frameworks and financial controls
- Oversee internal audit processes and risk management frameworks
- Review and enhance financial policies and systems
- Manage insurance and investment portfolios where applicable
- Lead and develop a high-performing finance team
- Foster a culture of accountability, integrity, and continuous improvement
- Ensure compliance with employment and labour legislation
- Engage with auditors, banks, tax advisors, and regulators
- Partner with internal departments to support strategic initiatives
- Contribute to income sustainability through donor funding models and sponsorship initiatives
- BCom Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- BCom Honours advantageous
- CA(SA) beneficial but not essential
- 8–10 years’ relevant experience, including 3–5 years in a senior financial management role
- Experience with in an NPO / donor-funded / public-benefit environment strongly preferred
- Proven exposure to financial systems such as Accpac, Sage 300, CRM systems or equivalent
- Strong working knowledge of IFRS, tax legislation, and governance frameworks
- Strategic financial and analytical capability
- Strong leadership presence and executive-level communication skills
- High integrity and sound judgment
- Detail-oriented with strong governance orientation
- Comfortable operating within a diverse and transformation-focused environment
