Registered Nurse | ICU Qualified | PICU

A vacancy exists for a Registered Nurse Neonatal Qualified in the NICU unit at Life Wilgers Hospital in Pretoria. The position reports to the Unit Manager and the successful candidate will contribute to the effective functioning of this unit and ensure quality nursing care to all patients.

• Providing quality basic and specialized nursing care
• Continual communication with the patient and family with regards to the patient’s condition
• Administering medication in accordance to ethical, legal framework
• Reviewing and complying with internal policies and protocols
• Ensuring quality management systems and initiatives are conducted according to the unit specification
• Advocating the patient by motivating acuity to case management and notifying the doctor of any limitations

• Interacting and communicating with a multi-disciplinary team
• Providing training and development to ensure personal and professional growth

• Evaluating employee labour hours and managing debit and credit hours
• Minimizing unnecessary stock wastage and facilitating maintenance of equipment

• Identifying and ensuring staff undergo department specific micro orientation
• Ensuring daily care rounds are conducted and investigating complaints
• Providing accurate, appropriate and adequate information to patients and family members during hospitalization

• Monitoring and implementing preventative measures to minimize risk
• Complying with ISO requirements to facilitate infection control

• Identifying doctors’ preferences and stakeholders’ needs and implementing them in the working environment

• Diploma in Neonatal ICU
• Experience in Neonatal ICU nursing
• Current registration with the relevant professional or regulatory body
• Understanding of the private healthcare industry, its challenges and role players would be an advantage
• Computer proficiency
• Driver’s license and ability to travel
