CohesionX is seeking a highly analytical university graduate to join our team as a Graduate AI Token Economics Analyst. This role is focused on helping us manage, measure, and optimise the cost of running advanced AI systems. As AI usage grows across our platforms and customers, token economics has become a critical part of how we build scalable, efficient, and commercially sustainable AI solutions.

In this position, you will work with data, usage patterns, AI model costs, performance metrics, and optimisation strategies to help reduce unnecessary AI spend while maintaining high-quality outputs. You will collaborate closely with technical teams to understand how different AI models, workflows, and prompts affect both cost and performance, and you will support the development of internal frameworks for AI cost management.

• Analyse AI usage data, token consumption, model costs, and customer-level usage patterns.
• Identify opportunities to reduce AI spend through smarter model selection, prompt optimisation, caching, routing, and usage controls.
• Build reports and dashboards that surface AI cost trends, efficiency metrics, and optimisation opportunities.
• Collaborate with technical teams to understand how different AI models, workflows, and prompts affect cost and performance.
• Support the development of internal frameworks for AI cost management and token economics.
• Apply data science and statistical methods to detect anomalies, inefficiencies, and high-cost usage patterns.
• Help design experiments to compare AI model performance, cost, accuracy, and efficiency.
• Contribute to pricing, packaging, and commercial models for AI-powered products and services.

• A university degree in Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Data Science, Engineering, or another strongly quantitative field.
• A strong passion for mathematics, problem-solving, data, and analytical thinking.
• The ability to work confidently with numbers, patterns, models, and complex datasets.
• A genuine interest in artificial intelligence and how AI systems are used in business.
• Good attention to detail and the ability to communicate insights clearly.
• A willingness to learn quickly in a fast-moving technology environment.
• The ability to work from our Pretoria office full-time, as this is an on-site role. Applicants should already be based in Gauteng or able to relocate prior to starting.
• Experience with Python, SQL, Excel, Power BI, or similar data tools.
• Exposure to data science, machine learning, statistics, or optimisation.
• Understanding of APIs, large language models, or AI platforms.
• Experience building dashboards, reports, or analytical models.
