South Deep is recruiting for a Senior Specialist Security Operations:
Technology and Projects. This role is key to planning and safely executing security technology upgrades and infrastructure projects, including risk management, incident response, and adoption of new systems and automation tools to improve operational efficiency.

The Senior Specialist is accountable for leading and developing team members, building strong stakeholder relations, ensuring sound governance of budgets and procurement, and engaging vendors to guarantee project delivery.
Minimum Requirements- Grade 12 or equivalent
- Tertiary qualification with a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field
- 5–8 years of progressive experience in security‑related technology management, with at least 3–5 years in a supervisory or managerial role
- Proven track record managing operational projects, including scheduling, execution, and financial and business‑case activities
- Medically fit for the position and environment, with clearance following a risk‑based medical examination and a Heat Tolerance Screening test
- Advanced operational safety leadership with a demonstrated safety delivery record
- Strong frontline team and people leadership with advanced collaboration skills
- Advanced verbal and written English communication skills
- Independent, proactive thinker capable of meeting tight deadlines
- Proven track record in technology management, system design, integration, network administration, data collection, and cybersecurity
- Comprehensive understanding of data collection technologies, cybersecurity fundamentals, and emerging security technologies
- Proficiency in developing and managing departmental and project budgets
- Ensure the health and safety of self and team members by applying relevant standards and procedures in planning and execution of operational activities
- Promote a zero‑harm culture by participating in safety campaigns and applying relevant legislative and safe‑work standards
- Lead, motivate, and develop security teams, ensuring appropriate scheduling and workload balance
- Coach and mentor team members to enhance skills and support career development
- Support initiatives that promote a diverse, respectful, and inclusive workplace culture
- Identify, co‑create, and execute security system optimisation interventions and infrastructure projects aligned with new systems and automation tools
- Develop, maintain, and implement risk management plans, prioritising projects and resource allocation while ensuring compliance with policies and regulations
- Make data‑informed decisions on operational and technological incidents and manage critical responses effectively
- Manage quotations, contracts, and budgets, ensuring optimal resource utilisation and timely completion of projects
- Build and maintain stakeholder and vendor relationships to ensure transparent communication and successful project delivery
