Job OverviewThe Agricultural Technology Solutions Engineer will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing and supporting smart farming solutions that integrate IoT sensors, data analytics platforms and autonomous equipment. Reporting to the Head of Engineering, you will collaborate with product managers, software developers and field technicians to deliver customized technology packages that meet the specific needs of commercial farms and agribusinesses throughout South Africa.

Key Responsibilities- Design and configure precision agriculture solutions, including GPS‑guided equipment, variable rate technology and farm management software.
- Conduct on‑site assessments to understand farm operations, soil conditions and crop cycles, translating findings into technical specifications.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to develop integration plans for hardware and software components, ensuring seamless data flow.
- Provide technical support and training to end‑users, troubleshooting hardware, connectivity and data analytics issues.
- Lead pilot projects and field trials, collecting performance data to refine algorithms and improve system reliability.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of emerging ag‑tech trends, regulatory requirements and sustainability standards.
- Prepare detailed documentation, reports and presentations for clients, stakeholders and senior management.
- Strong understanding of agricultural machinery, IoT devices and data communication protocols.
- Proficiency in CAD software, PLC programming and basic scripting languages (Python, JavaScript).
- Experience with GIS tools, remote sensing data and farm management platforms.
- Excellent problem‑solving abilities and a customer‑focused mindset.
- Effective communication skills for translating technical concepts to non‑technical audiences.
- Project management experience, including timeline and resource coordination.
A Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or a closely related discipline is required. Advanced certifications in precision agriculture, data analytics or IoT systems are considered an advantage.
