Systems Administrator, IT Support
Key Duties and Responsibilities
As a Solaris 11 Systems Administrator, you will play a key role in maintaining and optimizing infrastructure:
System AdministrationManage and maintain Solaris 11 environments Perform system updates, patching (SRU), and ongoing maintenance Monitor performance and troubleshoot system issues
User & Security ManagementAdminister user access, roles, and permissions Monitor audit logs and ensure compliance with security policies Implement and maintain robust security controls and firewall configurations
Backup & RecoveryDevelop and execute backup and disaster recovery strategies Regularly test recovery processes to ensure data integrity
Performance OptimizationAnalyze performance metrics and fine-tune systems Optimize configurations to improve throughput and reduce latency
Documentation & ReportingMaintain clear documentation of systems and procedures Produce reports on system performance, file transfers, and security logs
Collaboration & SupportWork with cross-functional teams on deployments and integrations Provide technical support and guidance to internal users
Incident ResponseRespond swiftly to outages, incidents, or security breaches Conduct root cause analysis and implement preventative measures
Vendor & Technology EngagementLiaise with vendors for support and upgrades Evaluate and recommend new tools and technologies
Essential Skills, Qualifications, and Experience Experience510 years hands-on experience with Solaris 11 system administration Technical Expertise
Strong knowledge of:
Logical Domains (LDOMs) Zones ZFS SMF Image Packaging System (IPS) SRU patching ILOM Networking (incl. IPMP) Scripting experience (Shell, Perl) Solid understanding of networking and security protocols
Experience with backup/recovery solutions Exposure to Connect:
Direct or similar file transfer tools (advantageous)
Solaris 11 certifications (e.g., Solaris Certified System Administrator) Linux certifications (e.g., RHCE) are a plus
